Fuad Ispir 1942 - 2012


The singer Fuad Ispir was born in Qamishli, Syria in 1942. Even as a child he had a great interest in music, and he learned church hymns in the Syriac Orthodox Church dwelings.

Fouad Ispir started singing in 1952 at the cultural center in Qamishli, where he sang songs of the famous Arabic singer Farid El Atrash. As a teenager Fuad Ispir acted in several concerts and parties in different places in and around Qamishli in Syria until 1964. Then he took a break from the public musical performances.

Fouad Ispir worked at the General Oil Company Rmelan between 1961 and 1979. Meanwhile, he played football in Rmelans football team who played in Jerusalem in 1966. In 1979 Fuad Ispir moved to Sweden and sang mostly in private parties.

Fuad Ispir has released six albums during his career and collaborated with several well-known poets and composers. Among them may be mentioned brothers Chamoun, Jean Lahdo, Halef Halef, Joseph Malki, Afram Safar, Tony Housni, and others. He has composed a lot of his songs own songs. Fouad Ispirs production is also known for its high-quality recordings, which are mostly made ​​in Turkey.

Fouad Ispir has appeared in Syriac Music´s live concerts several times during the years 2005, 2006 and 2009. In April 2012 Syriac Music honored him in a live concert. Syriac Music choir sang 22 of his songs in his presence and even presented to him Syirac Music honor escutcheon.

Fouad Ispir departed in September 13, 2012 after a struggle with sickness.
